In a modern society with higher competition, how to help workers fostering healthy mental quality, positive and hardy characters was an important problem which needed all the managers' consideration. A great deal of studies proved that there was a close relationship between stress and mental and physical health. Meanwhile, researchers also found that stress only partially affected health, and the correlation between stress and health could be changed by some moderators and mediators.The purpose of this research was to develop a measurement tool of job stress, test the moderating effect of hardiness and mediating effect of social support between job stress and depression, anxiety, job satisfaction and job performance. In a sample of 724 workers as participants, this study using interview and questionnaire investigation method, utilizing SPSS 11.5, R 2.8.1, and LISREL 8.70 to analyse the data, following conclusions was found:1. The reliability and validity of job stress questionnaire were good for working people, this questionnaire could be used to measure individual's job stress level.2. Women's job stress levels were higher than those of men's; the longer the weekly average working hours were, the higher job stress was.3. Job stress had significantly positive correlation with depression, anxiety, job performance, negative correlation with job satisfaction; hardiness had no significant correlation with depression, anxiety, and had significantly positive correlation with job performance and job satisfaction; social support had significantly negative correlation with depression, anxiety, and had significantly positive correlation with job performance and job satisfaction.4. Job stress can positively predict anxity, depression, and negatively predict job satisfaction; hardiness can negatively predict depression, and positively predict job performance and job satisfaction; no moderating effect of hardiness was found.5. Hardiness partially mediated the relationship between job stress and depression, job satisfaction; social support was a partial mediator between job stress and anxiety, depression and job satisfaction.
