The aim of this paper is to provide some theoretic guide for the education of mental health of impoverished undergraduates through the deep understanding of the life stress, social support and mental health of Mongolian and Han impoverished undergraduates, and the relationship among them. Three instruments were employed in this paper. They are "The Life Stress Checklist of College Students", "Social Support Rating Scale"and "SCL-90". All of them have validity and reliability. The samples were the students out of five universities of Inner Mongolia and He'nan province invited by occasion. 550 students'efficient tests were analyzed according to the aims. The result shows that: 1. Life stress of impoverished undergraduates is higher than that of non-impoverished undergraduates. There's no difference between Mongolian impoverished undergraduates and Han impoverished undergraduates about life stress. But Mongolian impoverished undergraduates feel more stress in employment problems than that of Han impoverished undergraduates. 2. Social Support of impoverished undergraduates is less than that of non-impoverished undergraduates. There's no difference between Mongolian impoverished undergraduates and Han impoverished undergraduates about the whole social support and utilization of support. But Mongolian impoverished undergraduates get more subjective support than that of Han impoverished undergraduates. Han impoverished undergraduates get more objective support than that of Mongolian impoverished undergraduates. 3. Impoverished undergraduates'score of SCL-90 is higher than that of non-impoverished undergraduates. But there's no difference between Mongolian impoverished undergraduates and Han impoverished undergraduates about mental health. 4. Life stress of impoverished undergraduates is negative correlation with their mental health. Social support of impoverished undergraduates is positive correlation with their mental health. Life stress and social support condition influence the mental health of impoverished undergraduates to a great extent. The impoverished undergraduates'social support is not correlated with life stress. Favorable social support is good to mental health while poor social support is harmful to it.
