Chung-ying Cheng was one skipper of The Third Modern New Confucian. He had a wider eyeshot and stronger feeling of reality to seek the link point of history and reality, in the condition to face the time tide of the amalgamation of contemporary eastern and western culture. He tried to advance the modernization and globalization of Chinese philosophy under the background of"world philosophy", on the base of the methodology of noumenon hermeneutics. On the base of noumernon hermeneutics, he unscrambled Chinese philosophy to four features such as"inner humanism","material rationalism","vital naturalism","self-disciplined actualism". In his opinion, though philosophy is"the knowledge of life", it can not only focus on human's morality, it should exert its rational knowledge. So we must use knowledge to carve out value and use value to exploit knowledge, in order to making"the reciprocity of knowledge and will"and"the mingling of host and guest", which is the representation of the holistic connotation of affirming life. So he quoted"combining of inner and outer doctrine, so it is seasonable"from a Chinese ancient book called Zhong Yong to express his understanding and orientation of Chinese philosophy, which is to emphasize that Chinese philosophy is seasonable. On this base, Chung-ying Cheng's hackled three phases of human morality development: the human that on the background of the concept of Heaven and fate—the objectivity of individual; the self-representation of the mutual motion with society—the autonomization of self; human's universal orientation on the background of the integration of Heaven and human—the self-realization of subjective noumenon. This is to achieve the bourn of the combination of Heaven and human from trying one's best and intellectuality to knowing the Heaven.Chung-ying Cheng's reconstruction of Chinese philosophy, which kept to the rule of"first understanding western culture, then back to reconstruct tradition". Though he had done so much to disentomb ancient tradition,combine Chinese and western culture and reconstruct Chinese philosophy, there are many questions which need to be further studied, we think that it can be concluded as following three questions: Whether it can be"combining of inner and outer doctrine"? Whether it can be"combining the doctrine of all times"?"How to realize the"combining the Chinese and western doctrine"? And more importantly, in spite of expatiating"the knowledge of life"or reconstructing Chinese philosophy, we can not deviate China's contemporary reality, and we can not ignore the necessity of"combining the doctrine of Chinese philosophy and Marxism", which is a difficult point for Chung-ying Cheng, as the contemporary new Confucian, to solve. That is to say, he can not solve this problem.
