At the end of the nineteenth century,German government began to introduce new systems of censorship in the basis of the old one,which covered books,newspapers, magazines,dramas and caricatures.Especially during the German Reich,through the Reichspreβgesetze,the Gesetz gegen die gemeingef(?)hrlichen Bestrebungen der Sozialdemokratie vom 21.10.1878,the Reichsstrafgesetzbuch and the Lex Heinze vom 06.02.1900,the government broadened the scope of the censorship.This research aims to outline the cultural censorship of this period by describing its object,method,character,laws,background,response and significance.It can offer useful materials of culture history to explore into the German society.From the original documents and materials,I attempt to restore the situation.In the meantime,I try to show my viewpoint about the cultural censorship.
