More than twenty years have been pasted when Mo Yan published his first novel in 1981.At this period,The literature of China has experienced a lot of transition and development, especially in middle and late 80s of 20th century,the western literary and artistic ideas were brought into China which made a revolution of novel.There are several different periods include the root-seeking novels,new fashion novels,post modernism novels in Mo Yan's novels. However,it seemed that Mo Yan has been abiding by a fixed narrative pattern and values.On this base,he explored continually.I want to find the core values in Mo Yan's novel from analyzing his representative novel,which is the subversion of history and return of folk.Mo Yan absorbed the literary and artistic skills which came from west in his novel's narrative pattern,magical realism,carnival,feeling-realization,all of which were reflected in his novel.At the same time,the organic integration of the western modernist skills and Mo Yan's folk writing formed a unique narrative pattern.In this free and opening pattern,Mo Yan subverted and deconstructed the writings which were written according to the conception of orthodox and class.Mo Yan's folk writing librated the history from the mainstream ideology,he manifested the historical changes by describing the ordinary family and people's fate.Mo Yan constructed history in the base of folks,he absorbed the forms of folk art,the folk legends and the anecdote widely,all of which were trivial folk elements,but were Mo Yan's historical subject in his novels.This kind of writing pattern reduced the reality of folk history and humanity.The manifestation of naked prime vitality in his novels was a critique for human alienation and "degeneration of species" in contemporary society.The enrichment and expansion on history,life and war of Mo Yan's novels return and expend the ecological history of the original scene and original life forms.In his novels,Mo Yan chose a narrative pattern of feeling-realization,carnival and magical. This free and unrestrained quality pattern provided a good condition for Mo Yan to express his folk language and show wild life force.On the other hand,it made the narration of his novel out of control.Mo Yan's narration and interpretation on something that were not elegant in his novel went to so far,to some extent damage his novels' aesthetic taste and aesthetic effects,even in a sense made the solemn cultural theme of restoring history and returning to civil a kind of desultory word games.As the new century comes,Mo Yan keeps exuberant writing ability and starts to return to the tradition which becomes a new trend.All of us expect that he will bring new surprise to us.
