New Female Writers In The Image Of A Man Changes

Since the end of the ten-year Great Cultural Revolution and the successful holding of the Third Session of the CCP's 11^th National Congress,the long-term-confined literary world began to flourish.At the same time,a lot of western feministic theories were introduced to China and thus women's individual consciousness of life was gradually woken up,which urged women writers to return to the theme of human life and literature and meditate upon many vital topics of life.The men characters described by them were designed,depicted by women as unique sex and evolved into many complex figures.This thesis chooses some women writers' most representative works as research goals,employs feminism and sex distinction theory to analyze the variance of men figures by women writers in different phases and their relation with the contemporary social and political process,probes into the impact of western feminism and Chinese social reform upon women's literature and the different traits and evolution of these men figures' appearance,character and behavior in over thirty years,so as to strengthen women's consciousness of independence and introspection,diminish sex distinction,and build the harmonious and ideal society of two sexes.This thesis has three parts:introduction,body and conclusion.The first part introduces the developing process of Chinese women's literature since "May 4^th Movement",and accounts for its research focus and meaning.The body is divided into three chapters:Chapter One Pursue and DisillusionmentThe women writers at the beginning of the 1980s created for us many tall and perfect "Great Man" images in their works.The pursue and worship of ideal men accords with people's traditional aesthetic value and aesthetic trend of acquiring perfection and eminence.But the extramundane,superorganic spiritual seeking neither resists the rigorous reality nor bears any meaning in reality and soon the pure love tale is destroyed and the disappointed women start to crusade against the humble and obscene men.Chapter Two Subversion and Escape The women writers in the 1980s exposed the men's hypocrisy and humbleness after seeing straight the men's inbeing and fully disclosed their disappointment, but they did pursue the true love.In the novels of Chen Ran and Lin Bai,there is full of despair.They overrode those weak and humble men,overthrew and took apart the men's idol status from women's unique aesthetic perspective,and made the men's images lashed,distorted and vanish in embarrassment.The men in their works have become only a sex symbol.They dodged into their own room and sisters' friendship and narcissism could help shun and relieve their loneliness.Chapter Three Metathesis and ConsumptionIn the 1990s,Chinese economy developed dramatically,which influenced people's thought.The traditional ideas were doubted and excluded and love was replaced by money and interests.Those men who were rich and in high positions and could change women's living conditions were appreciated and pursued by women. The men became symbol of money and embodiment of interests.At the same time,the women writers born in the 1970s grew up and did not believe in true love and lost their enterprise and belief,only depending on their body to lure men,enjoying themselves,connecting their emotion with instinct,and then love became a pure desire,the men being their quarries and a consumable item.ConclusionAt the beginning of the 1980s,people at least had a deep-felt expectation of the perfect men.Chen Ran and Lin Bai at that time also sought sadly the "fatal hovering".But in the current economic and commercial society,this graceful expectation is coming to an end and love has been completely replaced by money and desire.The protagonists in the works of the women writers "born in the new period with the revolutionary banners",such as Wei Hui,Mian Mian,etc.mostly connect emotion with instinct and do not ponder men's other meanings.Reviewing the variance of men's images described by women writers in the new period,it is seen that in the recent thirty years,the western women's rights movement and theory as well as China's economic and cultural development have influenced people's thought.Seeing the male characters created by women writers, it is clear that the women are surveying,criticizing and expecting the men.The variance marks the arousal of China's contemporary women and the activeness of female writers.All in all,liberating women,attending men,and building a big homestead together is the lasting goal of mankind.
