As the rhyme and rhythm of poetry are firmly attached to the meaning of poetry, rhyming would hurt the free expression and natural beauty of a poem.It has been a big problem to reconcile the rhyme and the free expression, and dealing with the musicality of poetry has been a restriction to the development of Chinese modern poetry.I try to re-define the musicality of poetry, that poetry of the music, including surface musicality(poetry rhyme, rhythm, traditional musicality which attached to the meaning of a poem) and the deep musical(the musical melting into the theme of poetry, style, structure elements). From the comparison between Dai Wangshu and Eliot's poetry and criticism,I found they stepped into the deep musicality of poetry, which brought inspiration to the Chinese poetry:jump out of the circle of rehabilitation and deposition of rhyme, and take a another approach to the poetry:the deep musicality.
