"Bi Ji Man Zhi" written by Wang Zhuo of the Southern Song Dynasty when he was living in Bi Ji workshop,is a famous works that studies ancient music aesthetics, word studying,the drama,song word and so on.It consists of five volumes.The first volume talks about the origin of music and the song development of Ancient times,Han,Wei,Jin,Sui and Tang Dynasty.The second volume comments on creating gains and losses of the poets from the end of Tang Dynasty and the Northern Song Dynasty.From the third to the fifth volume,the author tests and distinguishes the origin of 29 melodies.Aesthetic thoughts in volume one is foundation stone of the aesthetic theory of the whole book,from which Wang Zhuo proposes such music aesthetic thoughts as "main feeling","straightness",and "nature".This paper analyses ideological roots and thought uniqueness of the three kinds of aesthetic thoughts from the aspects of historical culture background and the author's writing logic.This paper is divided into six parts.Part one is the introduction of the whole paper.Part two talks about the historical culture background of "Bi Ji Man Zhi". Part three illustrates the connotative meaning of "main feeling" expressed in "Bi Ji Man Zhi" by Wang Zhuo,that is,sticking to the belief that all real beautiful music arts originates in internal feeling changes of the "heart" influenced by external objects.Part four discusses the aesthetic thoughts—"straightness", stressing that straightness leads to fineness.Part five talks about "nature",believing that on one hand it refers to the stark emotion of the subject in the process of creation.On the other hand,it refers to the objective law of temperament beat,which cannot be changed artificially.Finally,this paper gives a brief summary of the aesthetic thoughts and its historic significance proposed in "Bi Ji Man Zhi".
