Taiwan's Modernist Painting

End of 19th centure a new artistic idealogical stream was raised. It is called the"Modernism",it has infulenced many countries, Taiwan has no exception. Taiwan's art came from China's later Ming Dynasty, the painting of western-style was introduced to Taiwan by Japanese and Japan had studied from the Franch Impressionist. Besides the education of fine arts institution, the main leading of Taiwan's art movement was the government operated exibition,and the fine artist group display. After the Japanese occupation era in Taiwan, European culture become dominent influnce to Taiwan's art, but back in Europe the new idea of Modenism was thought as a rebelion aganst acadimy and it was not been accepted. Taiwan's senior painters had been educated under Japan's art style, they continued formed under the influnce of modernism. Draw-around the transformation of Taiwan's art style may be the possible to sneak into a study of the modernism influence in Taiwan. Modernism has made Taiwan's art become more in multi-dimensional,rich in imagination. The author main discussion is in the wester paintying style aspect in this situation.
