Emotional Experience And Empathy Response Relationship And Its Influencing Factors

As an important emotional phenomenon,Empathy has become the important fountain for pro-social behavior. The social role of empathy is definitely important,so investigators have be researched empathy-related emotions and its impact factors during the past decade.It has been proven that empathy can result in sympathy or personal distress or other emotional reaction.Moreover,emotionality and emotion regulation relate with empathy closely.However,emotional experience is also closely related to empathy.Researchers assumed someone whose emotional experiences are broad in range and well differentiated can understand other persons' situation and feelings well,so they will show more sympathy.However,it needs further direct researches to know about the specific relationship between them.In addition,we still don't know the combination of emotion regulation and emotional experiences will produce what kind of impact on empathy. Moreover,some external environmental factors have significant influence on empathy.So,in this study,we will research the relationship between emotional experiences and empathy,then we will explore the role of emotion regulation and environment factors.In study 1,we explore the relationship between emotional experiences and empathy.Results show that emotional experiences affect empathy.The higher the level of emotional experiences,the more sympathy and the less personal distress.In study 2,we research the influence of emotion regulation on the relationship between emotional experiences and empathy.Results show that emotion regulation and emotional experiences have interaction effect on empathy.The variable of emotion regulation can regulate the relationship between emotional experiences and empathy.In study 3,we research the influence of environment factors(behavioral justice and cultural similarity)on the relationship between emotional experiences and empathy.Results show that environment factors(behavioral validity and cultural comparability)and emotional experiences have joint effect on empathy.The variable of behavioral validity and cultural comparability can regulate the relationship between emotional experiences and empathy.
