Since the 1970s, the Neo-Romanticism music have been springing up in the musical fields of the West. The American composer George Rochberg was well-established in this period, with his work Carnival Music .In this thesis, the writer makes all-round analysis of Carnival Music in terms of the twelve-tone composing techniques, the aggregation techniques, the techniques of arranging modes and tonalities as well as the techniques of switching and fusing three of them each other, starting with this paper from the perspective of the pitch technique. The writer thinks that when the twelve-tone materials and the materials for step aggregations swithes mutually, it is mainly a swith in mutual relations that happens between tone row and intervals. in this case, the aggregation is generally treated into be cut-off of the twelve-tone materials; When the twelve-tone materials are combined with the tonality materials, it is mainly a swith in mutual reations between tone row and scale. in this case, the steps beyond its mode are usually treated into be ornaments or non-harmonic notes; and when the aggregation materials are combined with tonality materials, it is manily a swith in mutual relations between interval and scale. In this case, the intervals are generally treated into be sequence or melodies used for modulation etc. As for the overall structure, the writer uses the aggregation(4-1) as the leading motive to unify the whole piece,in doing so, the composer not only strenghen the overall structure, but aslo interage those three kind of materials in an organic way .
