On Macintyre's View Of Virtue

Since the later 20th century, virtue has been widely paid attention to and researched by the domestic and foreign scholars. Alasdair Macintyre is the main representative personage of Virtue ethics. Based on the Ethics tradition of Aristotle he analysised the standard ethics of modern Western, which taking he utilitarianism and the emotion principle since Enlightenment as the center by Criticizing. And he requested to reconstruct virtue ethics.This thesis analysis the beginning and the processing of Virtue, and the reason that Alasdair Macintyre Prompted people to have to track down the virtue in the developed society of material civilization, and by expensing the idea of the virtue of Alasdair Macintyre and the traditional virtue deeply elaborates and has analyzes viewpoint of virtue. The thesis promotes the reconsidering of Alasdair Macintyre's viewpoint of virtue from two aspects as significance and insufficient. Overall this thesis grasps Alasdair Macintyre's thought, and highlights the significance and importance of virtue in modern society.
