The paper analyzes the relationship between philosophical hermeneutics and foreign language teaching and initially establishes a theory of foreign language teaching from the viewpoint of philosophical hermeneutics. The purpose of this paper is to provide foreign language teachers with a new visual angle to reconsider foreign language teaching and broaden their repertoire of teaching technique. The paper proposes that a foreign language teacher should pursue a better understanding and interpretation of language, language learning, students and the teacher himself or herself in an organized and productive way if his or her effort is guided by this theory, because"to'be'is to understand"and"being that can be understood is language". It also emphasizes that the ultimate aim of foreign language teaching from the viewpoint of philosophical hermeneutics is to realize the fusion of horizons of teachers and students as well as the existence of human beings in the world.
