The three-volume autobiography finished within three years------ Ban Shen DuoShi"(2006), Da Kuai Wen Zhang (2007) and Jiu Ming Qi Yang (2008), is an importantautobiographical literary works by famous modern writer, Wang Meng. Wang Meng'sspecial experience of witnessing and participating the twists and turns of Chinese modernhistory, his unique experience and the legendary life, his unique cultural views andintellectual temperament, all of these make his autobiography attract considerable attentionas soon as it was published. Lots of reviewers and critics wrote commentary articles abouthis books and made introduction. At the special time of 30-year anniversary for opening upand 60-year anniversary of new China, anticipation for deep reflection and rethinking ofthe past special history appears in society. Wang Meng's special position and uniqueexperience in those past years made his autobiography valuable and meaningful both insociety and literature history. Therefore, I choose Wang Meng's Autobiography as researchobject and try to make an overall analysis and review about it.This thesis begins with an analysis and thinking about the writing motivation of WangMeng's Autobiography against the macro-social background and his personal writingconditions from the angles of social psychology and literature, so as to help readersunderstand his works better. Then, I continue analysis with the text of his works and make asummary on the content of his autobiography-----life identification over position and statusidentification. The third chapter makes probing and interpretation about the philosophiccharacteristics showing in Wang Meng's Autobiography, finding the warmth, rationalityand sincerity towards life, history and himself. In the fourth part, we pay special attentionto the narrative strategies used by Wang Meng in autobiography writing.At last, on the basis of collected information and materials as well as studies madewhile I was preparing this thesis, I make a summary and presentation about negative criticsand argumentation on Wang Meng's Autobiography and put forward some hopes for studyand review on specific autobiographical works.
