In China's folk songs,there is one genre of songs called "Folk Songs",which are songs freely sung by working people to express their emotions in the mountains."Huaer" is such kind of song which is popular in the areas of Gansu,Qinghai,Ningxia provinces.It is a cultural heritage which has the most unique regional charm and features with rich contents in northwestern region of China.The author takes "Huaer" as a cultural system and researches it in the regional cultural space on the survey in the Ketuo village in Hezheng county of Gansu province.This paper comprehensively demonstrates regional culture "Huaer" as a mirror to reflect the process of how the local society and culture change and how the social structure interacts with each other.It is an exploration of the relationship between "Huaer"and the current politics,economy,business,tourism and globalization since 1950.The thesis includes six parts:First,"the contribution of anthropology in the protection of cultural heritage ".It focuses on the significance of the protection of the oral and intangible cultural heritage according to overall concept of anthropology.The second part,"the social history and cultural context in Huaer region ",describes the history of Hezhou Huaer;the geography and history of Songmingyan in Hezheng county;the geography,history and the cultural background of Ketuo village;and the process of the field investigation.The third part is the review of "Huaer"collecting and the researching history from 1950 to 2008.It describes researches "Huaer",and the process of interaction between "Huaer "text and the national politics and cultural ideas.Meawhile,it reflects the past researches on "Huaer "and the text of "Huaer".The forth part "Huaer'in the mind of local people" is the research on the life history of "Huaer" singers from 1950 to 2008.It explains the life experience,the conflict events,Huaer art schools,the students of these singers,and the people who inherit and pass on the state-level cultural heritage,which combines with the events and the changes in thinking, integrating the historical memory and self-evaluation.It reflects the relationship between the individuals and cultural groups,and the individuals and social changes.Part five,"the changes of time of Huaer show"(a) focuses on the historical origin and the myths and legends of"Songmingyan Huaer Show";(b) the general description on changes "Songmingyan Huaer Show" from the years 1950 to 2008;(c) the discription in depth on organization structure and related activities of "Songrningyan Huaer Show" in 2006;(d) talks about governments' policies of protecting cultural heritage and analises the cultural reproduction in the field of "Huaer" through interviews.The last part is the conclusion-"what is indigenous style".It reflects the concept of "indigenous style".This thesis emphasizes that the culture changes with society. "Huaer"is such a culture full of unique regional charm and features which also changes with the society.This thesis holds that the overall concept of anthropology has important relevation to the understanding of "indigenous style" in the protection of intangible cultural heritage."Huaer"is a culture,the core of which is value system.These systems together with the manifestations and forms of "Huaer",which alive,diverse,and orally expressive in groups,constitute the whole "Huaer" the regional culture.
