From The Paranoia Of The "ideal" To "fashion" Carnival

The happening of Chinese contemporary art was coincidence with the liberal minded movement of Chinese society which started from the beginning of 1980s. Meanwhile, the different stages of development in Chinese contemporary art are also closely connected to the thirty-year reform and opening-up course of the society. This article hits its setting in historical periods of the Chinese society during these past thirty years, including social, political and cultural respects. Based on this, it analyzes the morphologic logical clue of the development of Chinese contemporary art. And it points out the sociological background as well as internal and developmental logic of the changes of contemporary art from early 1980s till now, from"85'New-wave Movement","New Generation","Cynical Socialism","Political Pop"to"Art Marketization". At the same time, this article is set in an overall art situation of 2003 to conclude and summarize it yearly, attempting to annotate the sociological backdrop and property of the happening and development of Chinese contemporary art through both macroscopic and microscopic perspectives.
