Shi Ji is the first general history of Ji Zhuan Body in our country. It records a history of more than 3000 thousand years from Yellow Emperor to Emperor Wu of Han Dynasty. A history of more than 2000 years had no record in the 3000 years, which is called "Legend Times". This period was recorded little but it has a long history. The history of legends was first recorded in the five styles created by Si. The legend times had no real record to refer to, and human beings were mixed with god. The trade-off (取舍) of this period by Si , who is famous for "real record" can show his historical value, and his comprehensive use of pre-Qin historical materials. As the only style of ancient times and its delicate and complicated relevance with history, myths and legends are always an important topic studied by researchers. The attitude of Si towards legends and his processing for its historicizeness and literariness has significant impact on Chinese history. This processing has its complicated background. His special writing principle, distinct hobby, complicated personal experience and sage Confucius all influence his processing of legends to some extent. .The records of myths and legends in paleozoic ero in Shi Ji has deep cultural connotation. Concerning the inheritance of its cultural origin, the myths and legends written by Si show the developmental skeleton from Culture Wu, Culture Shiguan . He also completed the transformation from legends system to "natural philosophy" system. The myths and legends in relevant historical materials and other references available for Si, undountedly had important influence on the literariness of Shi Ji. Combining with the materials that Si had seen, on the basis of summary of the use of myths and legends in pre-Qin Zhuzi literature, group books, historical proses and collective works, further analyzes the features of myths and legends in Shi Ji.The second chapter mainly talks about the standard concerning the trade-off(取舍) in the myths and legends. It describes from the following four aspects: time background, personal experience, wrting principle, "curiousity" inclination and Si's trade-off of myths and legends influenced by Confucius. The third chapter mainly talks about the cultural connotation of myths and legends in Shi Ji, exploring the developmental trace from Culture Wu to Culture Shi Guan, and analyzing the creative break from mythical system to to "natural philosophy" system, from perspective such as historicized legends and recurrence of historical reality. The fourth chapter mainly talks about the literariness in the myths and legends in Shi Ji. It emphasizes the influence of myths and legends on the romantic style of Shi Ji; the artistic characteristics of the myths and legends in Shi Ji; and further explore its aesthetic characteristic based on the comparison with pre-Qin and contemparory materials. The conclusion illustrates the national spirits in the myths and legends, and the unique status of Emperor Huang in the history of literature and culture. Finally, it came to a conclusion: the myths and legends wtritten in Shi Jihave great influence on its historical value and literary value. Si's processing to Shi Ji not only fills the gap of the paleozoic ero, it began to systematize and complete; but also inherits deep cultural connotation and the developmental trace of Chinese culture. From this it can also be seen Si's principle and inclination in writing Shi Ji. The processing for the materials of paleozoic ero has great influence on the literariness of Shi Ji.
