Yi Jian Zhi is a important work of novels in classical Chinese and mystery stories during Song danasty after Tai Ping Guang Ji.Its content includes every area of the society,because of the social background of the writer-Hongmai and the special making experience,Yi Jian Zhi has big value in literature and history, and it can be called a encycloprdia of Song danasty. The novels compiled in Yi Jian Zhi mostly relate strange stories which have religious content.This thesis attempts to analyze the respective folk brlief situation that mirrors society. So there are four chapters in the thesis.The first chapter studies the edition,style,composing speciality of Yi Jian Zhi.There are two factors in the religious cultural background.The first factor is the developing tendency of the religion of three-in-one which means the syncretism of three main Chinese traditions---Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism. The second one is the novels propagating religion and relating strange stories.The second chapter focuses on the custom of the pray for rain,the city god and soil god in Yi Jian Zhi basiced on the sacrifice and the retribution,and compares the differences between the retribution in China and in Buddhism.The thid chapter analyze sorcery,especially in"Chu"area,to study the pantheist in China.The last chapter studies the sentence mode and the Diamond Sutra,and classfies their affection to daily life.The middle two chapters in the thesis are the main content, which state the religious culture of Yi Jian Zhi concretely.lt aims to relive the folk belief in Song danasty even all of China through references and logical analysis.Ultimate conclusion focuses on the relation between"Ya"culture and"Su"culture, and pantheism belief in Chinese is on the basis of egoism.
