Folk Culture And Vanguard Novels In The Late 1980s

The rise of the vanguard literary trend was an important event on the Chinese Contemporary Literature in the late 1980 s, and Mo Yan, Su Tong,Yu Hua, Tashi Dawa,Ge Fei and Ma Yuan as the representative of Chinese literary writers set off a massive change.However, people are often concerned about the literary modernism absorption and utilization, but few studied pioneer fiction from the perspective of traditional folk culture.In fact,it was realized with the Chinese folk cultuer, and absorbed nourishment of literature from traditional culture consciously or unconsciously,when the pioneer novels appeared in the anti traditional features.Folk culture is a universal experience of living in a particular area, specific ethnic groups, both as a cultural phenomenon, but also a folk phenomenon.Folk culture is referred to folk customs and cultural life of the people, which include customs, rituals, folk art,etc.These folk things like word of mouth in the way heritage,and has enough influence on people's behavior and psychology constraints.At the same time,the pioneer writer,as the main body of literary creation, has its own folk complex,and specific regional life experiences as well as the writer's own life experience and the folk custom, have influence on their literary creation consciousness, their common way of thinking restrict writers and behavior, and give them a wealth of inspiration and material.The thesis intends to examine vanguard novels of the late 1980 s from the perspective of folk culture in the creation by folklore theory analysis,and it's mainly from four aspects of the analysis:First, drawing on folk drama,vanguard novels absorb the quintessence of traditional opera, such as Mo Yan novels on the use of folk rap,MAO cavity, good novel shaping of the characters and text form;Su Tong's novels drawing on techniques such as "muddle through", "not going" and "lane" from Suzhou Pingtan,enable a degree of relaxation of the narrative rhythm of the novel.Secondly,vanguard novels use a large number of stories and legends as narrative material, and focuses on mysterious implication, which have an important influence on the formation of a mysterious world of Mo Yan and Tashi Dawa's novels.Third, the ancestor worship, belief in ghost and divination culture in the vanguard novels provides a reasonable container, which bring the mysterious spiritual effect.Finally,the use of wedding ceremony,funeral rites,rituals and festive ceremony ink,areconducive to development of novel's internal circumstances,and provide the special folk culture atmosphere and to express the theme.The thesis discusses from these four aspects,in order to attract more people pay attention to vanguard novels of this period,reversing the previous "total Westernization" impression, and revealing the neglected literary landscape and aesthetic contexts.
