Studying sculpture for several years,I was more and more aware of the importance of seeking my own language of sculpture. In renewal times when Western culture is strong, as a sculptor in contemporary China, will inevitably face carrying forward the tradition, learning foreign culture and face the issue of innovation. Therefore, in the stage of post-graduate study, I have carefully studied the works of modern west sculptors who was engaged in realistic art. I hope that the research of realism sculpture language of modern Western will become meaningful in guiding my practice afterwards. In the study of realism sculpture of modern Western, I used comparative law and the inductive method to attempt to find some similarities from sculpture language of a number of modern Western realism sculptors. On the whole, I think the changing of the realism sculpture language of modern Western have the following regular pattern:1. Dealing with body increasingly became two points-simplification and super-realism.2. Sculptors went after more direct express of emotional, sense of form and bolder composition. The changes in body mass had a greater breakthrough.3. Sculptors used traditional materials for the innovative way, at the same time had courage to explore and use new materials. Sculptures in different texture give full expression to the beauty of material, so that the relative independence of material had achieved an unprecedented level.
