In the creation of sculpture art,the use of materials occupies a special position.In each period of the history of art development,the use and excavation of materials play an important role in promoting the whole history of art.Sculpture materials from the beginning of traditional materials such as metal,wood,stone and so on gradually expand to other comprehensive materials,ready-made products,waste goods,daily necessities and so on.Natural phenomena such as sunshine and rainwater in the world can be used as materials in sculpture creation.At the same time,with the improvement of science and technology and productivity,more and more other materials or acoustic and photoelectric media can be used in the extension of sculpture.Besides the increasing use of materials,has the use of traditional materials reached the boundary?Can traditional materials be supplemented and expanded in language? Where is the material boundary? It is worth thinking deeply.Each material has its own unique material attributes,and these attributes can be classified,and each attribute can derive a new way of creation.What commonalities exist between these materials and the possibility of not being discovered at this stage? In this paper,based on the two traditional sculpture materials,pottery and wood,starting from the attributes of materials,and from the perspective of material perception of temperature,to analyze what is the temperature sense of materials,and what is the practical value of material temperature sense for sculpture creation.On the premise of using it as a basis,to explore the definition and summary of material temperature sense from personal perspective in modern sculpture creation.Research on the new material language produced by the combination of the two materials in the medium of temperature sensitivity.
