Wang Yangming And The Present Moment Is "the Spirit

The thesis of"当下即是"plays a key figure in the Yang Ming Learning (Though Yang Ming himself did not express such opinion), and the academic researches have not served adequately investigation till now. This paper takes it'as a topic for discussion, and enlarges the range of research from Wang Yangming to the other giants of "Left of Yang Ming School". It also tries of making discrimination to"良知(conscience)" and gives a theorical analyze and deduction, then seeking the root meaning of"当下即是".This paper is divided into five parts; the first part is a general description and serves requirements for the following discussed ideas in advance. The second part tells about the prescriptive of conscience in the level of ontology, shows an intensive verbal significance of the etymological meaning of"既是".According to the explanations above, we can tell differences of"当下具足"and"当下承当"with it. And"当下具足"as a rule of ontology which could be confirmed as a prerequisite of工夫论with a symbol of"当下即是"."呈现(Present)" and"遮蔽(Shade)" could not in a certain situation of co-exist, either. The "present" is not a gradual change which can be measurable but a reverse of reaching the pinnacle of literary fame in a sudden. The third part highlights the proposition of"当下".The concept of "homogeneous and linear time" in modern times is similar to the concept of time which from"工夫论"in Cheng Zhu School, and have distinct of the Yang Ming School.There is no doubt that the concept of"当下"is based on the traditional"感应(induction)" theory of Confucianism, and it also calls for "Don't look back the past/Don't look forword to the future".Secondly, the essay analyses the two main "Shade". As the final root of the innate knowing is"天(Heaven)", it could overcome "Shade". The point of "According to my self-conscience and act" could be slipped through easily, and can be called as a breakthrough point. If we can take the chance right now, a realm of so called"逆觉体证"could be reached by return to the "Heaven".Of course, this effort is hard to accomplish. But the conscience itself would emerge with brilliant magnificence under the instructions from advisers and other fellows. And we can find that Yang Ming School have emphasizes the importance of讲学(giving lectures).The forth part is informed opinion; though we get"当下即是",it does not mean the accomplishment of effort. In fact, the Yang Ming School have highlighted that the saint and the ordinary person could be reversed from one idea to another. And the realistic care of Confucian also calls the researchers to face the fact. As a result, the effort becomes an everlasting trail.The fifth point is a summary. And it also elucidates the limitations and the time background of the proposition as a supplementary.
