Body, The Existence Of Aesthetic - Merleau - Ponty Body Aesthetic Research

Maurice Merleau-Ponty's perceptual theory is a continuation of the traditional perceptualphilosophyofFrench.Adoptingaphenomenologicalmethod,Thetheoryanew"co nsciousness-body-main" theory,which absorbs Hegel Spirit Philosophy and begins with the research of Gestalt psychology, beyonds the traditional "binary opposition" and the false opposition between empiricism and rationalism.The past research on Merleau-Ponty's theory mostly concentrated on his body philosophy, his unity of freedom and ease, his bridge between spiritual and material world.This paper,which is from views of the aesthetic experience, aesthetic creativity and aesthetic communication,mainly discusses the aesthetic theory in his philosophy. Merleau-Ponty firstly holds that the body which is the unity of physicality and mentality is aesthetic subject. The aesthetic object is integrated into the aesthetic subjectand,which is the essence of art in his viewpoint. Second,when this kind of body becames the aesthetic subject,it's communication with the aesthetic object must fundamentally change.Finally, he introduces a "source first" language which is nessesary for the experience art intertwined with the body and nature, thought and existence.The language which certainly is not a simple tool, pointing to one 's"existential situation", is a sensual and poetic language leading to the existence.Merleau-Ponty has a far-reaching impact on aftertime. Because of his early death and the apparent ambiguity in his philosophy and aesthetics,there are some difficulties for the future generations to understand his thought.However,it is undeniable that Merleau-Ponty has developed the phenomenology and has promoted the emergence of structuralism.
