The middle ages city is an integral part in the Western Europe feudal society. During the middle ages, society has a clear division of labor: The countryside is engaged in the agriculture specially, the city is engaged in the industry and commerce specially. The city free has the binding force freedom, the social behavior freedom relates the human himself, in the legal significance gives, is the social collective has the development foundation. In the city to obtain autonomy, the public began to enjoy participation in politics, business, marriage and educational autonomy.The middle ages Western Europe women varying degree participates in the social economy life, particularly in urban woman, although they have not looked like the man to obtain the full right to independence equally. The medieval English urban women's social status, not as literary as the church and the general exclusion of women, the woman hold the quite vital role in the daily social life. The urban women in economic life, very active and play an extremely important role. Of their labor for the maintenance of the survival of their families is significant.The thesis consists of three parts of introduction, main body and conclusion. The part of introduction covers the trend of research both in and out of China and described its learning value and practical meaning. The main body is of three chapters: the first chapter mainly discusses the concept of women in medieval Europe. From Christianity's view of women, in the middle ages literature's view of women, practical life's view of women three aspects analyze, pointed out that the Christian churches and medieval literature derogatory to women in traditional society of the Western Female role models play a negative role. In the second chapter, the main discussion in the British cities of women in social life. From the urban management, social interaction and activities, marriage, education, detailed analysis, that they are in social life, especially in urban political life, the role is very limited, the family is the women's daily living and engaged in various activities. In the third chapter, analyzes the middle ages garden city woman's economic activity from the urban woman's industry and commerce activity and the property right two aspects, thought that the woman has certain contribution in urban economy's growth and the developing process. As the conclusion, the author made a brief introduction of the current social situation and gave comments on the general status of women in the society, thought that the middle ages status of women does not mean despise, the relationship between men and women belong to partnerships.
