As a special factor in the fields of Philosophy, Linguistics and Logic, copul a plays an important role. Particularly in philosophical Ontology, we regard it as the best symbol that represents the existence of substances. Looking back throu ghout the history of Philosophy, we can easily find that people have been strivin g to perfect the study of the linking verb to be via different research methods b ased on their own findings. The aim is to find out the essential theory of Ontol ogy. Comparing with Philosophy, Linguistics focused on the function of copula. Although these linguists held different views about this, they truly agreed on one point, that is as a part of the whole linguistic system, copula is important and indespensable. Beside what has been mentioned above, the analysis of copula als o acts as a main part in Logic. When we come to compartmentalize the proposit ions, the discussion that how to catalog the linking verbs involved inside turns o ut. Concerning the relationship between subjects and predicates, logicians can not reach an agreement about whether the copula is an independent factor or a com bination of the predicates. In view of the imperfect theories of copula we've got so far, the main clai m of this paper is to list them systematically and discuss the correctness and de viation. The work will combine Philosophy, Linguistics and Logic together. Basin g on the linguistic philosophical speculation, we will classify the theories of cop ula and get a full exploration of all the possibilities, reconstruct a complete scie ntific system of copula and then conclude the ultimate aim of this work, that is to proclaim that copula is the home of human beings and stands for the existenc e when we are considered as substances.
