Business English Writing Ability Scale Research

Study on Business English Writing Proficiency Scale (BEWPS) aims to explore the construction of BEWPS in China, managing to develop an advanced scientific dynamic and open system of BEWPS which not only reaches the international standard but also conforms with the realities of China.Research design adheres to the principles of linking theory with practice in order to well integrate qualitative study and quantitative study. Literature search, questionnaire survey and statistics analysis are used. Meantime, Questionnaire of Study on Business English Writing Proficiency Scale which is well designed on the basis of genre theory and the construct of business English writing ability is used for social needs analysis, and BEWPS is designed on the basis of the data that come from the social needs analysis. Due to the limitation of personal abilities and objective condition, the survey scope and respondents are mainly commercial units located in Heilongjiang Province of China. Microsoft Excel 2003 is used for data processing.The research results are as follows:First, the research defines the concept of business English writing ability and brings out the model of the construct of business English writing ability. Second, this research expounds and proves the theoretical basis of BEWPS. Third, the research successfully explores and finds out the initial process of development of BEWPS in China. Last, this research initiatively finishes compiling business English writing proficiency scale of China.
