Chi Zijian Image

This thesis altogether divides into three parts. At first it explained the concept"image"in the introduction part. Image is a complex object of subjective feelings and objective things. It represents the unity of writer's thoughts and oject which reflect her writing intention. The image is not a simple combination of things. It not only implies the profound theme and life significance, but also has unique artistic features. In the contemporary literary arena, Chi Zijian is good at creating images. Because of the charming poetry, the works which are Chi Zijian writes has very high literary character and pure artistry. She expresses her feelings of the outside world through the specific object. Chi Zijian creats an aesthetic and artistic world by the way of joining her own understanding and feelings to the images. The image in her novels includes still life, a category of living beings and the soul which can shuttle back and forth freely between the world and the underworld. According to the different meanings of the images in her works, the first chapter of the thesis divided them into three categories--cherish the nature, visualize the ideal life and face the bitter life. Each writer's thoughts, feelings and artistic presentation skills will be subject to the influence of the specific nation, her own region and the times. The second chapter points out that the image production in Chi Zijian's works mainly comes from her childhood memories, the hometown complex and personal aesthetic taste which can divided into"the experience of her childhood","the perspective of children","the influence of his father's death","the geographical scenery","the folk customs","the impact of Shamanism"and"the warmly writing style","the use of poetic language","the creation of aesthetic conception". The final chapter firstly studies the relationship between the images and narrative in her novels from narrative perspective. By discussing the writer how to deal with the relationship between meaning and physical image we can deeply understand the theme of her novels. At last, it analysises the literature significance and the artistic characteristic of Chi Zijian's image writing in the contemporary literary arena.
