Tibet Trilogy is a series of works by Fan Wen, a Yunnan Writer. The trilogy is an outcome of his many years'traveling and researching in Tibet, reflecting the century-old history and culture of Yunnan-Tibet region. The series consists of Blended water and Milk Earth, Compassion Earth, Graceful Songs of Earth. The trilogy was highly praised by critics for its thick, broad features as soon as it was first released. It has become one of important components of the new century long novels for the unique artistic charm and deep thinking it shows. As a Han writer, Fan Wen had successfully described the real life in Tibet, which used to be unfamiliar to him, he had described the Tibetan spirit and temperament in a very authentic way.This paper will discuss Tibet Trilogy in three aspects. In the first part, we'll discuss the relationship between Tibet Trilogy and Latin American magic realism, from the impact by Magic realism, to the reference from Magic realism in the conception and artistic method, finally we'll compare and come up with the localized characteristics of the Tibetan Trilogy. In the second part, we'll focus on reviewing epic characteristics of Tibet Trilogy, mainly in three aspects: the family's destiny and the historical changes, heroes, religious and nature, re-narration on beliefs and national culture. Not only did Tibet Trilogy inherit the tradition of grand narrative characteristic of Chinese long novel, but also it committed to innovation, described the characters'history by writing the people in the history stream. In the third part, we'll utilize narrative research method to analyse the narrative features of Tibet Trilogy in three aspects: narrative perspective, narrative time, structure and language, elaborate the narrative goal and result of Tibet Trilogy.
