Study On The Narrative And Performance Of Magic Realism Style Films

In recent years, with the magic realism style films such as “The Sun Also Rises” and“Pan’s Labyrinth” are getting more attention and are discussed passionately, the academic circle has begun to do some research on this kind of films. However, the research of how magic realism affects film production is just emerging, and with the addition of scarce related articles, which lead that the existing research of magic realism films are mostly focus on the narrative and aesthetic value. Namely, the research sample is single form,which lacks of systematicness and comprehensiveness.Under the circumstances discussed above, the author studies on this new kind of film production in purpose of practical application; based on the narrative theory and audio-visual language theory, with the research sample of magic realism style films. In specific study, the author mainly adopts the methods of qualitative analysis(mainly text analysis) and the case study. He makes a comprehensive study on how magic realism affects film production by summing up the typical narrative and performance characteristics. He hopes his effort can enrich the samples of magic realism films; provide a valuable reference for the production of domestic magic realism films, and a method to explore the way of the development of Chinese magic realism films.
