Messiaen is a French composer. He is full of the spirit of doing experiment and exploitation. The main topic of this research is to explore from one point of view how Messiaen compose.This thesis first makes overview research of the theory of modern composition technique established by Messiaen. Then it looks into the structure characteristic, modality of limited transposition, rhythm combination, color chords as well as the personnages rythmiques and other elements of "Turangalila Symphony" -- one of Messiaen's work. Author of this paper analyzes in detail how these elements are dealt in composition, the method of applying new elements in practice. With the analysis in part and the whole, together with the examples, the procedure of composition is clearly presented.According to the analyse of cases and comparisons above, this paper sums up the methods of composition during 20th century and proves that tonality is no longer that important in the personalized composition, instead, diversification of music elements will substitute that in the future. As shown by Messiaen's composition technique, modern large-scale music is not just packed up with random pieces without relations. The cohesive force of work is build up by elements developed with diversity rather than tonality. Effective and personalized composition ideas would pilot new analysis modes and promote the development of music creation.
