This thesis is focusing on the German grammatical category "Konjunktiv", in English also known as "subjunctive mode", though the German meaning is more complexe. The "Konjunktiv" does not exist as a grammatical category in the Chinese language. However, from a semantic point of view it can still considered existing. Initially describing the grammatical forms and functions of the German "Konjunktiv", the thesis is then from a comparative perspective focusing on finding grammatical and semantical equivalents in the Chinese language. The phenomenon "Konjunktiv " is also carrying strong cultural functions. On the basis of language comparison the topic is then widening up to a more general view on the functions of a grammatical or semantical "Konjunktiv" within a certain cultural background. By giving examples of how the "Konjunktiv" is used in a political context as well as in literature, the ideas of "perspectivity" and cultural differences as well as reality, irreality and hypothesis lie in main focus. |
