Misty Poetry Sun Antithesis Phenomenon

The image of the sun or light is an important subject in the poet metaphor system. To concentrate on the image of the sun can make us know the changes of the times and its culture better. Misty Poets become a special phenomenon in the history of Contemporary Chinese Poetry because the poets awoke up in the nightmare of "Cultural Revolution" earlier and reacted against dominant ideology by writing poems effectively. To subvert and rebel the red sun which always means Mao Zedong, made them gained great achievement and become a milestone in the history of Contemporary Chinese Poetry. However, because the deep influence of binary oppositions, we can still see the trail of that time in their poems. In other words, Misty Poets expressed their defiance to the red sun effectively, but the meaning of the sun actually had no change, That means, They didn't construct a new sun in their poems. This question was resolved by the post-misty poets eventually.This paper will elaborates on this problem from four parts:"the changing process of the image of the sun in Modern Chinese Literature", "Misty Poets deconstructed the red sun", "Misty Poets tried to reconstruct a new sun" and "the Post-Misty Poets reconstructed the new sun successfully".In the first part, this paper will introduce the changing process of the image of the sun in Modern Chinese Literature.In the early 20th century, Nietzsche's sun spirit was learned by people with lofty ideals. then Chinese writers put the sun spirit into their own poems, Guo Moruo is the leading figure. after the People's Republic of China founded, the worship of the sun was emphasized intensively, at last the emotion became the cult of personality to Mao Zedong in the time of "Cultural Revolution".In the second part, this paper will analyze how Misty Poets deconstructed the red sun from the nature sun (including these properties: light, hot, rise in the east and set in the west and the only one in the world) and the red sun (relating to three attitudes:rebel, revert and exorcised the myths of the red sun) the two aspects. According to the analysis, the Misty Poets'pioneer consciousness will be highly commended again, meanwhile, this paper will point out their weakness:kept close relationship with the time and politics, advocated noble spirits and still used the revolutionary discourse and so on.In the third part, this paper will talk about how Misty Poets tried to reconstruct the new sun. based on the poems. this paper will try to find out the trail of their self-construction by the two points of view:"don't let sun show in the poems, including banish the sun and let sun disappeared", "return to the nature sun by root-seeking in the history and let sun just as the nature one". Finally, this paper consider they failed, because the deep influence of the red time and revolutionary language, plus these poets were lack of the knowledge and literature theory.In the last part, this paper will introduce another change in the past-misty poems briefly. Pursuing the pure poetry arts is the Past-Misty Poets'aspiration. In their poems, they started to exorcise the myths of the red sun. The most important method was that the sun became a kind of "lack", it never be nominated directly, they used other words, such as "lucency", "noon", "day" to replace the sun to express their ideas indirectly. Till now, the image of the sun had been reconstructed successfully.The other purpose of this paper is to point out that to focus on an image is also an effective way to read poems which share the same spirits and to understand their history values intensively.
