De, The Italian Romantic Opera Aesthetic Distinction

Current situation of German and Italian opera during 19th century, romantic period, which was represented by Wagner and Verdi is one of the most important incident in western history. There is countless number of academic literatures, which has involved Wagner and Verdi indeed, however, few of them talked about Wagner and Verdi's opera creation or life experiences with their opera aesthetics systematically at the same time. Therefore, this article is intended to involve this complex subject, conduct an academic research about this certain opera aesthetics divarication based on Wagner and Verdi's opera creativity. By relating multiple subjects such as music historiography, music analytics, music sociology and music aesthetics, the main idea of the disquisition is to seek out the Cultural - historical issues behind this very opera event.This article is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is a common review about the evolution of opera aesthetics during 17-18th centuries. The second and third chapters separately generalized the primary ideas of opera aesthetics from operas in Germany and Italy, which were individually represented by Wagner and Verdi, by analysing two of their most famous operas "Tristan und Isolde" and "Otello". The fourth chapter is a general discussion of apparent differences between Wagner's and Verdi's opera aesthetics, and the fifth chapter is a extensive investigation on the main facts that causes the divarication of opera aesthetics, the investigation based on both composer's national opera tradition and their social life condition. In the end, the article proved that the common essence behind two composers'aesthetic conflict is their subjective understanding of "romanticism".
