Xia Linuo "six Pieces For String Quartet" Sound Material Composition And Its Organization

Six short quartets—for strings was created by Salvatore Sciarrino in 1967 and was then revised in 1992. The completion of the whole work span from Sciarrino's creating initial phase and late phase, therefore, some creating technique in the masterpiece combined with other features of the composer in differenet phases. Though the whole work span different creating phases of Sciarrino, the composer's creating concept was still clear. Sciarrino's penchant for coaxing unique sounds from instruments—either in combonation or solo—is one of his most consistent characteristics. Which resembles the whisper of musical instruments. To be a theory reference for our practical creating, this paper is going to do some research on the composition of sound material and the way of organization, furthermore, try to explore Sciarrino's creating idea in his masterpieces.
