Based On The Theory Of The "death Instinct" Death Education

Confucius once said, who has never known what life is knows not what death is. It appears to Confucius that mastering the meaning of living is the key point of life, but death, which is only the end-point of a long life, is not needed to study it. In the Analects which is noted Confucius and his students' sayings and thoughts, there's few words about death, and the poor few words just depicted the facts but no discussions. It comes to a conclusion that Confucius didn't think much of death or he avoided to talk about death on purpose. Confucius is the delegate of Confucianism which is the delegate of Chinese traditional culture, according to the above viewpoint:Chinese people do not prefer to talk about death. The author thinks that although individual is a single unit, he is not alone, everybody contacts with ambient others in some way. If we reflect life through thinking about experience death, we would more respect life, cherish life, tolerate others' behavior, and show solicitude for the miserable people, so as to live a colorful life, purify and sublimate our soul. Thus, the author holds that who has never known what death is knows not what life is.The paper first analyze the problems of Chinese currently death education, combining the era background reappear and analyze different kinds of death phenomenon, and dig into the reasons hiding behind the death phenomenon, then expatiate the main theory of this paper----Floyd's death instinct theory, on the base of it pose a new death education outlook unlike the traditional one. The death education system consist connotation, goals, contents, modes & ways and curriculum designing, etc. At last, the author will expatiate the principles death education should follow. The principles involve great love, transcendence, happiness three aspects. The author hope this paper would do some favor to the death education.
