A Study On Anti - Terrorism Cooperation Between The United States And Yemen During The Obama Period (2009-2015)

"The Christmas Day attempted bombing incident"in 2009 marks the rise of Al Qaeda in Yemen, Yemen seems to be the Al Qaeda terrorist activities center, has aroused international society especially the great attention of the America. In fact, Yemen has been an Al Qaeda and terrorist events behind the stronghold of the multiple, USA Global Counter-Terrorism squeezing the Al Qaeda of the original living space, resulting in the rise of Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) in Yemen. AQAP threatened the American and Yemen, in order to maintain the security, to achieve its own strategic interests, USA and Yemen strengthen cooperation against terrorism.The Obama administration took office, adjusted the America’s counter-terrorism strategy, facing the challenge of AQAP, America increased aid efforts in weapons and equipment, economic assistance, military training, and cooperate with the government of Yemen in counter-terrorism operations, forming the "Yemen Model"anti-terrorism. At the same time, American introduced new anti-terrorism in Yemen policy, strengthen cooperation with Yemen in counter-terrorism operations, focusing on aid to Yemen in response to domestic challenges, to eliminate the root causes of terrorism. Yemen by the West Asia and North Africa unrest situation influence, regime change, began a political transition process reconstruction of the government. In the face of the AQAP trend growth, USA made Yemen a smooth political transition assistance policy, in order to restore and strengthen cooperation against terrorism. American and Yemen still disagree on terrorism, counter terrorism cooperation progress of both sides is not smooth. At present, Yemen is in the period of political turmoil, the political transition process interrupt, anti-terrorism cooperation of America and Yemen is difficult to recovery in the short term.
