In the late 1980s, the socialist camp in Eastern Europe had undergone tremendous changes, the German Democratic Republic and the Federal Republic German finally reunified. "New thinking" as the guiding ideology of the Soviet Union’s foreign policy, has a momentous role in the process of German reunification. When Gorbachev came to power, he actively changed the past foreign policy of the Soviet Union, actively eased relations with the US-led capitalist countries, strengthened exchanges and cooperated with Western European countries in the political,economic. The policy creates a relaxed external environment of German reunification. Relaxing controls with East Germany, Germany eventually move toward reunification.Based on Gorbachev’s "new thinking" in the main content and interpretation under the guidance of foreign policy, we can analyze that how it is influenced, including international relations and the attitude of a large country, and these changes how to further influence the process of German reunification.Gorbachev’s reforms failed to save the Soviet Union, the Soviet Union ultimately escape the fate of disintegration. However, learning from history can know the rise and fall, of the Soviet Union in the socialist construction in the success and failure, we need a good way to learn and pondering. At present, China is still in the primary stage of socialism, the paper hopes that it can provide a valuable reference for China’s socialist construction significance through the analysis of Gorbachev’s foreign policy during the reign.
