Research On The Obama Administration 's Arctic Policy

In history, because of high latitude and frigid climate, the value of arctic is limited. After 21 th century, the geographic position and strategic value appears more important for the tendency of political globalization is getting stronger. As the only super country in the world, America began to put this area into its strategy project. Since Obama hold the power, American government published 3 arctic strategy documents: Goast guard arctic strategy, national ocean policy implementation, and national arctic strategy. These 3 documents have fixed some mistakes which existed in documents published by Bush administration. In addition, these documents made related arctic strategy more detailed and summarized related agenda. It is clear that Obama administration is paying more attention and respect to United Nations convention on the law of the sea and Arctic council. Meanwhile, it reflects the American hegemony thought and dominant thought traditionally. As one of observer states of arctic council, our country will participate in the process of development and management. China wants to implement the principle of mutual benefit and peaceful coexistence with other countries during development actions in arctic.
