A Study On The Necessity And Countermeasures Of Enlarging The Middle - Income Stratum In Kunming

With the deepening of reform and open-up policy, and economic development, Kunming has entered the interim starting period of industrialization and fast developing period of urbanization; social class structure is also undergoing profound changes, the positive role of middle-income strata in the social and economic development becomes more and more obvious. According to the experience of the Western countries, reasonable social class structure presents an "olive" structure, of which the two ends are small, but the middle part, which is called "the middle class", is huge; but this huge part has made a significant contribution for the modernization of our society.From the perspective of history and development, the growing middle-income class is the important guarantee and support for the whole to develop harmoniously and rapidly. The research of its specific role is also a theoretical issue that needs to be discussed in academia, In order to build a socialist harmonious society, and to provide a strong support for sustained and healthy economic and social development, attention must be paid to the prominent role of the middle-income class in the harmonious development of our society; meanwhile, through various means, enlarge the middle-income class to make them play better a leading role in social, economic and cultural aspects.Currently, the class structure of our country is transforming from the "pyramid" one to the "olive" one. During this transforming process, the focus is to enlarge the middle-income class, so is Kunming. On every aspect of social harmonious development, the ever-enlarging middle-income class has a great impact that cannot be ignored. Therefore, the issues about their development status and their role in social development have drawn attention from more and more scholars and government. Expanding the proportion of middle-income groups will have a significant influence to promote the harmonious and stable development of Yunnan Province.On the theory of social classes in and abroad, making Kunming as the starting point, this thesis analyzes the status of the middle-income class, class degree of recognition, and the matching of the ecological environment for the whole city; setting the western countries as examples, this thesis also makes clear and affirms the middle-income class’ positive role on the social harmonious development; enlarging the middle-income class will be helpful to safeguard the social stability, to promote the sustainable economic development, and to spread the mainstream values; at last, from the perspective of the government, the thesis analyzes the causes leading to the imperfect of the middle-income class enlarging matter and put forward some relevant countermeasures.
