Study Of Deng Xiaoping's Diplomatic Thinking

Deng Xiaoping Thought of Foreign Affairs (DTFA) is the most important component of Deng Xiaoping Theory. Deng Xiaoping inherited and developed Marxist-Leninist international relationship theory and foreign affairs theory of Mao Zedong Thought with his distinguished intelligence and courage, and gave it much connotation and typical style. DTFA has become the guiding thought and thinking treasure for China's foreign affairs in new era, and at the same time it is the important basis for the formation of the foreign affairs thought of the third generation of central leading group. Furthermore, it creates a good external environment for socialist construction in new era. The current paper focuses on the research of the main content, basic characteristics, and significance of DTFA. Starting with its historical formation process, the paper analyzes its main content, basic features, theoretical and practical significance. The paper consists of three parts:Part I The paper intends to explore the historical formation process of DTFA. It firstly elaborates the scientific connotation of DTFA; It will then explain the historical formation process from the angle of the inheriting Marxist-Leninist-Mao Zedong thought's foreign affairs theories. Lastly it will analyze the influence of Deng Xiaoping's personal charm upon the DTFA.Part II The paper explores the main content, the basic features of DTFA. First of all, it will elaborates the main content of DTFA including seven aspects: to touch exactly the impulse of the time and stick to the time's topic of peace and development; to surpass the difference between different social systems and different ideology and adhere to the principle of national interest being at the most important position; to establish new international order on the basis of five principles for peaceful coexistence; to draw up foreign affairs policy correctly and insist on independent and peaceful foreign affairs; to take international opportunities in time and insist on adopting the open-up policy; to solve international disputes peacefully and adhere to the 'one country two systems' and 'mutually development' foreign affairs practice viewpoint; to analyze international situation dialectically and adopt struggling strategy flexibly. Secondly, it will introduce the basic characteristics of DTFA through the combination of practice and creativity, principle and flexibility, nationality and world, time and inheritance.Part III The paper attempts to examine the theoretical and practical significance of DTFA.The present research first demonstrates the significant meaning of DTFA through the inheriting and developing Marxist state theory, Leninist peaceful coexistence theory, the 'Third World' theory of Mao Zedong Thought, the principle of independence -and self-decision, 'peaceful solution' to the thought of motherland's unification. Meantime it will points out the significant influence of DTFA upon the formation of foreign affairs thought of the third generation of central leading group. Next the paper elaborates that DTFA created new situation in our country's foreign affairs practice through four aspects: expanding the international existing space, creating international circumstance for socialist modernization construction, promoting the international status of our country, laying the foundation for our country's foreign affairs in the new century.
