On Road Transport Enterprise Restructuring In The Direction - Of Modern Logistics

It will be a vital period for both the economic and social development of our country in the coming 5 to 10 years time. With the rapid development of our social economy and China joining WTO, demands for logistics service have kept increasing as well, so that the logistics technology would be popularized and utilized dramatically.Since China adopted "open-door" policy, our road transportation has been developed very fast and has played a more and more important role in the comprehensive transportation system. So, both our social economic development and the transportation industry's own development need to shift their traditional transport practices to logistics. So in this case, only the policy and effective measures could ensure and lead the trucking sectors to this shifting. This article, first of all, gives a general introduction on basic theory, structure for administration and management, policies and etc. in aspects of logistics. It also describes the fundamental concepts, the present situation and its trend for future development of logistics, the importance of logistics in modern economy and modern industries. Besides, it emphasizes the role and status of trucking in the process of logistics, experience on how the trucking sectors in foreign countries have done, the enlightenments to us from the experience of how the British trucking sectors have developed logistics.This article also discusses how to speed up the development of logistics in China, under the current circumstances, in regards of what the proper size and frameworkof the trucking companies should be, how the trucking companies could be equipped, their problems and issues. Based on analyzing the potential domestic market and supply capacity, and by facing the new challenge and competition in trucking sectors after China joining WTO, all state owned trucking companies require to make further reform. Hence, this article has emphasized possibility, necessity and feasibility of developing logistics by trucking sectors in China, the crucial point for this logistics development and has also made some suggestions on the way and measures on how to accelerate logistics in trucking sectors.
