Ever since China's entry into the WTO on 11th December 2001, the brand new historical era will bring us tremendous impacts and challenges without question. Huge potentials and benefits are gestated in Chinese financial market. Due to the unit-management model of banks and insurance companies as well as securities institutions, our banks possess much more single functions than those foreign ones. Up to now the main operation of our commercial banks is still deposit & loan providing, which takes above 90 percent of the total banking revenue (meanwhile in the USA, the proportion is only 60 percent). While the national economic growth along with the increase of people's living standard, as well as the consumption-stimulating policy of our government, will all provide a broad space for the individual financing operation development of our country's commercial banks.Aimed at the current development status of the individual financing operation in Chinese commercial banks, this thesis analyses the primary problems and shortages existing now, then puts forward countermeasures accordingly. This thesis consists of four parts. Beginning with the definition, the main contents of the first part are about the basic principles and general introductions of individual financing operation. Following the definition of individual financing operation are its significance and classification, the evolvement process of individual financing operation is also mentioned in this part. Based on the current facts of individual financing operation in Chinese commercial banks, the focus of the second part is the shortages and problems which have exposed up to now. These problems can be classified as two types. One of them is originated from the external reasons, such as the unit-management restriction on Chinese financial industry and the lack of regular individual credit system. While the other type is due to the internal reasons which occurred in the course of our banks' operation development. For example, thebanking service doorsill has been setting too high, the range, product and service of financing marketing are not as one wishes yet, also the lack of financing specialists and advanced technology can not be ignored. Then in the third section, this thesis puts forward the countermeasures and suggestions on how to solve these problems occurred in the development of our commercial banks' individual financing operation. Also one type of suggestion is aimed at the restriction on financial industry and the lack of individual credit system. While the other type of countermeasures is aimed at the internal reasons. For instance, the adoption of market segment and innovation, the reinforcement of branding strategy and individual financing marketing service, the establishment of perfect system of client manager and individual financing center, the emphasis putting on individual consumption loan and technical methods such as Telephone Banking System, Self-service Banking, Network Bank and Banking Card. Based on the second and third part, the last part of this thesis prospects a bright development future trend of the individual financing operation in Chinese commercial banks. Future individual financing operation will be more comprehensive, net-based, brand-constructed and individual, also will be charged.
