Explore The Development Trend Of The International Division Of Labor

Not only the western developed countries but also the developing countries put a heavy emphasis on the research of international division of production. Especially during the dozens of years between the twentieth century and the twenty first century, the system of world division of production is facing many challenges and opportunities for development when the world's situation is changing rapidly and the pattern of world production division is under the fast adjustments and displacements. Studying the trends of international production division is particularly important for China which makes great efforts to realize its national renaissance and peaceful rise.On the basis of abundant materials, the paper mainly utilized the qualitative methods combining with some quantitative tools, studied the historical documents and statistical data of world economy and trade since 1431, some of which is much precious. Then the author got several new conclusions in the historical and cross-section view.The paper is arranged in a logical order as much as possible for better understanding. Firstly, the author studied the developing trends of the bases of international production division, followed by analysis on the forms and pattern of world division of production. Secondly, the author tried to find the inner reason hidden behind the trends and basically formed an analysis structure of dynamic mechanism for international division of production recognizing the main pushing and dragging forces. The author also argued fully about the origin, development, distribution and coordination of the benefit from international division. In the last part, after reviewing all the historically important division theories and schools in the order of time, the author found a simplification trend from many special and complex schools in theoretical research while the comprehensive theory of international production division, which can describe the interactive process of competition-coordination, is hatching.The main points of this paper are as following. It is the deepening and extending bases that support the ever-expanding system of international production division. This is shown by the expansion of geographic basis, by the deepening development of matter basis and by the fusing system bases. The more the international division develops, the more the forms become diversified, which prominently is: from inter-industry to inner-industry division (the border is moving inward), from tangible trade to intangible trade division. The production division pattern becoming stereoscopic and dynamic, because its pattern is more and more websized, multi-stratified, border blurred. The dynamic mechanism lies behind the developing trends of international production division. The dynamic mechanism is becoming gradually complicated in which there are competition, science and technology revolution, transnational corporations and other pushing forces while ever-increasedconstraining elements from natural elements to social ones. The durable motive power of the development of division comes from pursuing benefits of production division. International division of production bring many interests but the distribution of interests has a lot of inner problems to solve. It would need a perfect interest coordination system. The theoretical study on international division of production is deep-going from its very beginning. Since several hundred years ago, many theories have been formulated from the absolute advantage theory to the competitive advantage theory, and a pulse toward simple and original appeared. For example, Xiaokai Yang used infra-marginal method to directly analysis the characters of division.
