Hani Region's Poverty Problems And Countermeasures

Lofty Ailao mountain and torrential Red River in Yunnan province nurture an ancient and hardworking ethnic group - Hani minority. Hani people reside in China and Southeast Asian countries such as Viet Nam, Laos and Thailand, etc.Hani minority is one or the poorest ethnic group in Yunnan province. With the reform policy of building a well-off society, the local government and people of all circles are deeply concerned about the economic and social development of this very land. Through studying the poverty problem of the region, this thesis aims at finding solutions to the poverty problem so as to help Hani people get rid of poverty and build a prosperous homeland.This thesis takes a demonstration research method together with economic theories in analyzing the types and causes of the poverty problem in this region, and puts forward some countermeasures and suggestions.There have been many articles about the history, religion, folk-custom and language of Hani minority, but few dealing with the economic development from a systematic point of view. This paper integrates major economic theories with Chinese minority economics,regional economics and developmental economics to investigate the actuality of the social and economic development in the area. On the basis of the investigation and research, the paper sums up the types and causes of the poverty problem, and offers some countermeasures.This thesis is the result of research.
