This thesis attempts to summarize and analyze about the bank with the help of relevant files, newspapers and periodicals.The thesis could be divided into six parts.Part one introduce the historical background and the basic situation of establishment of the Exchange Bank of China. The immediate cause of its establishment was that Japan want offend loans to the Northern Government during the period of the Sinei Cabinet of Japan after Xiyuan loan, and in order to be accessible to receive and expend the Xiyuan loan, the Exchange Band of China came into existence.Part two chiefly narrate that the society of china on behalf Xianghai and peking had an attitude of doubt and opposition to the bank around the establishment of the Exchange bank of China. They mainly called in question if the bank can set up the branches in open port and inland of china, and had a right of issuing bank note.Part three inquire into the form of capital and essence of the bank. After confirming the identities of Chinese and Japanese stockholders of the bank, I conclude that the bank was the combination of Japanese monopoly capital and Chinese bureaucrat-capital under the cover of collaborating between two countries' industrialists.Part four mainly deal not only discuss the situation of routine operation of bank but also generalize the character of operation of the bank. The situation of routine operation contained three part: continuing to make loans to china after dealing with Xiyuan Loan, issuing bank note and calculating about half of capital in silver dollar, and accepting the stock fund in the second period and re-electing the president. Though discussing the character of operation summarized from the situation of routine operation, we can learn that the bank may be considered as exchange bank in earlier stage while commercial bank in later stage, n addition, the bank and the Northern government were on intimate term ,and so the band offer loan to the Northern Government.
