Credibility Assessment Index System Of Liner Shipping Companies

Credit rating is developing with the improvement of market economy. It originated from the United States in 1890 and got the rapid development in 1970s. Then it began to develop in Europe and developed countries in Asia. Whereas the research of credit rating in China has been developing quite slowly and now is still at an early stage. As it is well known, enterprises are the main bodies in the market economy, credit of enterprises constructs the basis of social credit system. The development of credit system for enterprises results in credit evaluation system of rating enterprises. This dissertation is an attempt to study the indicator system of credit rating for liner shipping companies and to explore the evaluation model as well as its application There are four main parts in this dissertation:Firstly, the definitions of credit and credit rating are introduced. Credit by nature refers to the qualification of engaging in activity and public appraisal. While credit rating means evaluating credit for market participants in all respects according to specified criteria. In addition to these, characteristics for both and principals, method and affecting factors for credit rating are also analyzed.Secondly, the economic characteristics in liner shipping industry are expounded and then the functions of evaluating credit for liner shipping companies are educed. It can reduce the risks of participating in activities of market and has great help to improve internal management for enterprises so as to keep market economy running in a good way.Thirdly, the indicator system of credit evaluation is established on the basis of affecting factors for liner shipping companies. The model using the method of fuzzy comprehensive evaluation is set up and is applied into practice to assess the credit for liner shipping companies in Shanghai.Finally, summary of the index system is made and generalized, on which suggestions put forwarded for establishing credit evaluation system in shippingindustry, hoping that they can be helpful in making decisions in regulating shipping market and developing the credit system in shipping industry.Author: Chen Shun (Planning and Administration for Transportation)Directed by: Prof. Xudazhen...
