Urban System Development In Sichuan

In the course of urbanization, the construction of the urban system isnot only an important theoretical and realistic problem, but also animportant content of the regional economics research. Sichuan is a largeprovince that the rate of urbanization rises constantly. Under thebackground of western region's exploitation and globalization, it's arealistic problem to promote the urbanization of Sichuan by theconstruction of urban system. The purpose of this paper is to reveal the principal contradictionsand offer the solutions through discussing the theory about the urbansystem and analyzing the development about the urban system ofSichuan. Following is the meaning of this study. First of all, it helps to promote the rational development of theregional economy of Sichuan. In 1999, China began to implement thestrategy of western region's exploitation, aimed at narrowing the gap ofdevelopment and realizing the coordinated development between the westand the east. As a province of west, Sichuan faces with the subject of howto promote the development of regional economy. Sichuan is anunderdeveloped area in our country, and the economic resources, such aslabor, financial, material resources are limited. It should promote thedevelopment of regional economy through the multi-level urban system.Here, how to develop a rational urban system is an important problem. Secondly, it helps to adjust and control the urbanization of Sichuanto study the urban system. The urbanization is a kind of inevitablephenomenon with the development of economy and society. In the courseof urbanization, a large amount of population flow into cities and townsfrom countryside. Now, compared with the economy development ofSichuan, the urbanization of Sichuan is falling behind, which leads to thelimitation of the development in rural region. Sichuan faces with theimportant task of transferring a large amount of surplus population fromcountryside to cities. This process can be adjusted by the construction ofurban system. The thesis includes four chapters. In the first chapter, I set forth the fundamental theories of the urbansystem. Through discussing the theories, I probe the theory about thedevelopment of the urban system in Sichuan. The second chapter study the development conditions of Sichuan'surban system. The regional conditions include two parts. The first part arethe inner conditions, such as resource, economy, population, traffic. Thesecond part are the domestic and international conditions, such as westernregion's exploration and globalization. In the third chapter, I have analyzed the situation of the urban systemof Sichuan from three aspects, there are space structure, scale structureand function structure. In the last chapter, I have conceived the further development of theurban system in Sichuan. This chapter include two parts. In the first part,I put forward the overall thinking and measures. In the second part, Ibrought forward the concrete measures, such as accelerating theconstruction of traffic system in Sichuan, reforming the investment andfinancing system of urban basic construction of facilities, accelerate thestep of opening. The thesis includes novelty as following: Firstly, the theme in the thesis has novelty. Secondly, the writercombine the theories of urbanization with the characteristic of Sichuan'sregional development. Thirdly the writer points out that Sichuan shoulddevelop its urban system with an unbalanced way. Because of the author's lack of knowledge and academic ability, thepaper has some shortages.
