| From the start of 1998 to the end of 2003, there are about 36 bilateral Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) been signed or under negotiation or feasibility study among APEC members. In particular, most the number of bilateral FTAs of Singapore is and earliest the time came into force. Many studies about FTAs are both inside and outside our country, but few of certain economy, especially inside. based on some literatures relating to FTAs, This article, according to the economic data from Singapore's Economic Survey 1999-2003 published by the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Singapore, reviews the findings of FTAs research associated with Neorealism, Neoliberalism and Constructivism, collects and clears up systemically of the data and information about the Singapore's FTAs strategy, analyzes the reasons and the enroll effects. The analytical conclusions are following: 1,Singapore wants to build his own FTAs net by bilateral FTAs strategy to strengthen the economic connections with his major trade parter, such as Japan and US, and to ensure the economic security by enlarging his exterior free trade area. 2,Singapore expects simultaneity to promote the development of the regional economic cooperation, even of the multilateral free trade system in the world, through his bilateral FTAs strategy. 3,the FTAs strategy of Singapore gives impetus to the revival of Singapore's economic, and accelerates the development of the economic cooperation in Southeast Asia. |
