Equipment Manufacturing Cluster International Comparative Studies

Under the situation of an open economy, to realize the upgrading of the industrial structure, the competitive advantage of the industry must be rebuilt. Recently, Industrial Cluster has become a new competitive unit, based on which, enterprise's competence can be enhanced effectively. Comparing with other light industrial cluster, China's Equipment Manufacturing Industrial Clusters are still in their formation stage, which has hampered the steps of the industry's upgrading. While the Equipment Manufacturing Industrial Clusters in America, Japan and Europe have developed for a long time and are more mature, analyzing which to find some rules will benefit the development of China's Equipment Manufacturing Industrial Cluster.By field survey, searching second-hand materials from public resources, a large number of cases very were collected. Then typical cases from America, Japan, Europe and China are analyzed mainly in two aspects. First, by analyzing different clusters' forming process, the formation models of Equipment Manufacturing Industrial cluster are analyzed, then the difference of the Cluster between China and developed countries are compared in company structure, horizontal relationship and vertical relationships of companies and external touch.Two conclusions are concluded. First, there are many formation models of Equipment Manufacturing Industrial cluster, 3 kinds of formation models are put forward in this paper, and their forming mechanism is explained theoretically. Second, China's Equipment Manufacturing Industrial cluster still need improving comparing with developed countries. Comparing with developed countries, China's Equipment Manufacturing Industrial clusters are experiencing a developing stage, their structure may have great change in the future. On horizontal yardstick, the relation relies mainly on horizontal competition relation among enterprises, horizontal cooperation is weak, On vertical yardstick, vertical cooperation is comparatively close, but still needs to strengthen. Besides, China cluster's external touch mainly is for technology while developed countries' is mainly for market. All the findings will provide helpful ideas to China's Equipment Manufacturing Industrial cluster's formation and references to policy-makers.
