On Ideological And Political Work In Building A Harmonious Socialist Society In The Status And Role

Building a socialist harmonious society is an important mission brought forward by our Party according to the overall situation of building a well-off society in an all-round way and create a new situation in building socialism with Chinese characteristics. It is such a complex systems engineering that we must take comprehensive measures from many perspectives and extensive scope rather than a single work. At present, the academia have been exploring and researching almost from the view angle of institutional building. It is correct one, because institutions and systems as "rigid criterions" authentically play pivotal role. But at the same time we should fully understand that ideological and political work as a lifeline also plays an important role in this course. It is indispensable, that is to say, building a socialist harmonious society needs both "rigid criterions" and "elastic criterions." They supplement each other and everyone has its emphasis. They are unified in the great cause of building socialist harmonious society. Directed by "Three Represents", this paper discussed the status and functions of ideological and political work in course of building harmonious society from the perspectives of relationship between them. At the same time, it analyzed how to improve and reinforce ideological and political work in light of these tasks. The whole paper can be divided into three parts. The first part surveyed ideological and political work from the perspective of socialist harmonious society and expatiated the relationship between the ideological and political work and building socialist harmonious society. We can make conclusions that their relationship is the one of means and goals, that for people is their start and ultimate goal, that lifeline expressed the status of ideological and political work in course of building socialist harmonious society. Ideological and political work should exert essential and fundamental functions. The second part analyzed concretely these functions. They have six aspects, educational function——facilitating harmonious development of ourselves, invigorative function——inspiring social creative energy, regulative function——handling the contradictions among the people properly, introductory function——pushing forward innovation of social management system, manipulative function——maintaining social stability, cohesive function——strengthening and improving mass work. The third part discussed that ideological and political work should be improved and strengthened in the fundamental principle, content and methods in order to promote the cause of building socialist harmonious society better.
